Animal Feed Bags Now Recyclable Through Agrecovery

Convex Plastics, June 2nd, 2011

A Reporoa-based world leading producer of natural advanced fibre nutrition for horses and calves has become the first animal feed company able to recycle their bags using the Agrecovery Wrap recycling programme.

Fiber Fresh Feeds Ltd became a brand owner of the Agrecovery Wrap recycling programme in January and their customers can now use the programme to dispose of empty feed bags.

The Fiber Fresh bags are produced by Convex Plastics, as are the Agrecovery Wrap recycling bags, and both have been specifically designed to be 100% recyclable.

Fiber Fresh Feeds Managing Director Michael Bell says, “The Agrecovery Wrap recycling programme provides our customers with a convenient and efficient waste disposal solution, which also helps protect our environment. The only thing unnatural about our products is the packaging and we are very pleased that it can now be so easily recycled.”

Customers can recycle their empty Fiber Fresh bags by purchasing a small or large Agrecovery Wrap recycling bag from their rural retailer, or by using their existing Agrecovery Silage Wrap recycling bags.

Michael Bell says, “Fiber Fresh is committed to sustainable production and is very pleased that Agrecovery has enabled us to provide our customers with a very simple way to minimise the environmental impact of packaging.”

For convenience, Agrecovery has agreed that both farm silage wrap and Fiber Fresh bags can be collected together.

All a customer needs to do with an emptied Fiber Fresh bag is shake all the loose feed material from the bag, roll it up, and stuff it into the Agrecovery bag.

When the Agrecovery bag is full, customers can book its collection with Agrecovery online at www.agrecovery.co.nz or by calling 0800 AGRECOVERY (0800 247 326). After booking, small bags are directed to a nearby collection site while all large bags are collected on-farm at no extra cost.

Convex Plastics Managing Director, Owen Embling says, “We always do everything we can to provide our customers with environmentally responsible packaging. It is very pleasing to see that as well as recycling their own packaging Fiber Fresh has also made it really easy for their large number of rural customers to recycle it as well, by using Agrecovery.”

Agrecovery was established in 2005 to address persistent on-farm waste issues. The non-profit organisation now provides New Zealand farmers and growers with nationwide agrichemical container, silage wrap and crop protection net recycling as well as a programme for the collection of unwanted chemicals.

By becoming an Agrecovery brand owner, Fiber Fresh has joined other responsible manufacturers who are actively contributing to the safe and sustainable disposal of the products or packaging that they sell into the New Zealand rural market.
