Convex Plastic’s Owen Embling (left) and Plasticover’s Michael Pegg say the new joint venture has strengthened both their companies and will enable them to deliver a number of benefits to their individual clients.
The two privately owned packaging companies say the new joint venture will strengthen both companies and enable them to better service their individual clients.
Both Convex Plastics and Plasticover specialise in the manufacturing and printing of flexible packaging for a number of industries, including food and horticulture. Although competing in similar markets, the two companies are closely aligned in their commitment to service and quality and see good synergies for the future.
According to Plasticover JV General Manager, Michael Pegg, "Plasticover and Convex Plastics are already successful companies and the joint venture has better positioned both of us to provide our customers with even better service, products and quality. Plasticover JV now has access to new technology that will enable us to offer our customers a greater range of products and manufacturing techniques. I believe they will benefit greatly from that."
In addition to new technology, Sydney-based Convex Plastics is providing Plasticover JV with personnel, and research and development. Melbourne-based Plasticover JV, in turn, is providing Convex Plastics with personnel, plant and machinery. This will increase Convex Plastics’ flexibility and capacity by enabling them to manufacture and print their products at the new Plasticover JV plant in Carrum Downs, Victoria, instead of having to direct everything through their parent plant in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Convex Plastics’ Managing Director, Owen Embling says, “The new joint venture has increased our capacity by 30%. As a result all our clients are going to see good delivery times, quicker turnarounds, and more flexibility from a company that prides itself on being highly flexible and focused toward what our clients need.”
