Bagged Baby Salad Greens Guarantee Maximum Shelf Appeal and Freshness

Fraisbon Foods have just released a new range of pre-prepared ready to eat salad mixes in custom-designed packs that protect the produce, lengthen its life and guarantee freshness.
The newly launched Krispcut Baby Salad Greens are currently being introduced to selected Foodtown stores throughout the country and come in six varieties: mesclun, mesclun with herbs, gourmet fancy lettuce blend, rocket, spinach, and Caeser salad with croutons.
Krispcut Baby Salad Greens are pillow-packed into laminated re~fresh modified atmosphere bags designed by Convex Plastics to match the respiration rate of each specific salad mix. These stiff bags protect the packaged produce and keep it in prime condition for a guaranteed minimum of five days.
The packing of the bags also incorporates gas flush technology, making any tampering or tear in the bag noticeable by causing the gas to escape and deflate the bag.
Fraisbon Foods Managing Director, Ashley Berrysmith, says the Krispcut salads have been successfully trialed in two Auckland Foodtown stores and he is pleased with the results.
He says, "Our Krispcut salad mixes provide an appealing range of colour, texture and flavour variations, and they've all been prewashed, ready to put on a plate. They also have fantastic shelf appeal because the high gloss graphics make them highly visible and attractive to consumers."
According to Berrysmith the bagged salad category is growing well overseas and research indicates there is large potential market for bagged salad mixes in New Zealand.
He says bagged salads also take up less room on the super market shelf and in the consumer's refrigerator than the traditional bowl packed salads, they are more cost-effective, and they are easier to tamper-proof.
